Dalgety Bay Sailing Club

12 Optimists assembled at Dalgety Bay for the Artemis Scottish Championship & Grand Prix event. On the face of it, a disappointing number, but the Scots have lost a number of sailors in recent weeks. The ranks were swelled by a number of visitors from England and Wales. An overcast day, with 12-14 mph ESE breeze provided plenty of interest for the sailors. All the places were hard fought, with several changes of position. At the end of the day, there was only 5 points separating the top four sailors: 2 locals & 2 visitors.
The day ended with an excellent meal provided by the DBSC galley.

Sunday dawned bright, and a light breeze. More than was forecast, and sufficient for an exciting first race. Conditions did not hold, and the first attempt at race 5 was abandoned due to lack of wind. Luckily for the race team, the breeze filled in again, and the full complement of races was completed.
Very consistent sailing by Matt Foskett and Toby Morlsey saw England and Wales take first and second places, with Scotland clinching third place. It isn't often we see tied points for first place, and even less frequent to see the following 5 places separated by a single point each.
